Status: Complete Success
In 2010, while we were reviewing plans for the new clinic, and researching the best products out there, we set our sights on the Cardell MAX-12 anesthetic monitoring system: a wonderful machine that doesn't just monitor 2 parameters during surgical procedures but is capable of 6 !!!
Although two parameters are sufficient, the Cardell MAX-12 would give the doctor extra readings
and allow him to monitor even more specific parameters to keep your pet healthy.
The Cardell MAX-12 parameters
The Cardell MAX-12 monitors algorithms specific for dog, cat, horse, or other. This ensures the low and high values change depending on species selected. When a value drops below or rises above set levels, an alarm will sound.
Pulse rate/ oxygen saturation of blood
The pulse oximeter measures the pulse rate and oxygen level in the blood of your pet; another way to monitor both breathing and blood circulation.
All 6 parameters are displayed simultaneously on one screen so you can't miss any of the readings.
Cardell MAX-12 monitors the amount of CO2 output
in the air your pet is breathing. This allows the doctor to know how well oxygen is being used within the body before air is being expelled again. An abnormal value means either breathing or blood circulation have a problem.
Systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure are displayed on screen. A drop in blood pressure may indicate a too deep level of anesthesia.
The ECG gives a graphic display of the electrical activity of the heart. Three different "leads" give information about different issues that may arise.
